401 St. Francis is currently the home of Downtown Car Care. Our design elevates the current Art Deco facade to reflect how essential this business is to the downtown Mobile community. Downtown Car Care is a business that supports locals like Abhi, who need an oil change before taking Bear on a beach excursion to Dauphin Island.
Our design highlights the existing Art Deco details like rounded glass block corners and terrazzo entrance. We also enhance and modernize these features by replacing the boarded-up door on the facade with large, open windows. The metal awning with a neon border also contributes to this goal, with a vernacular style Art Deco facade. Downtown Car Care also establishes its home by painting its branding above this awning.
