4 & 10 St Emanuel St.
Located just off Dauphin Street, near Mobile’s heart at Beneville Square, 4 & 10 St. Emanuel Street will become not far off the beaten path mixed-use buildings. Starting with the smaller building, 10 St. Emanuel Street, this site keeps its original stucco and cornice details, plus adds in stucco window embellishments. The entrance to both the commercial and residential spaces is recessed and decorated with terrazzo. To the left is the residential entrance leading to the upper levels, and to the right is a small commercial space perfect for Dress Up, a chain boutique.
With the larger building, 4 St. Emanuel Street, there is a residential entrance to the left and a recessed commercial entrance to the right. This larger commercial space is perfect for downtown necessities like a chain pharmacy like Walgreens. 4 St. Emanuel maintains much of its original ornamentation with sandstone lintels, stucco facade, and cornice. With the anticipated addition of low-income housing next door in the former Gayfer Department Store, there will be increased local presence near the main street of Dauphin. That will make this a perfect spot for serendipitous meetings. Imagine tourists asking locals about their favorite restaurants, or run-ins between Natalie, Michelle, and Tabitha who joke about their most recent book club meeting and make plans for double dates.
